If you have a print or design question you would like us to answer, please email us and we will do our best to help.
We have produced a PDF file which contains useful information about how to create your own business card and what file formats you can use. It contains instructions for working in Adobe and Quark applications, and also in Microsoft Word. You can download this file by clicking on the link below, but if you then have further questions please contact us and we will be able to help you get the file ready for print.
To ensure brand consistency you can define your company colour using Pantone values. This ensures that your colours are the same on your reprints and between various printed items such as letterheads and compliment slips. Please note that when working with Pantone colours you must check to see how items will look when printed in 4 colour process as well. We have the latest Pantone colour guides in our offices and if you wish to check these then please phone us or pop into our shop.
We occassionally notice square boxes appearing around objects when they are printed and this is usually due to how the PDF file is created. Several PDF print compliance 'standards' have been defined, the surest standard for universal print output is a "PDF X/1a". These PDFs are essentially flattened, so may well cause issues should the PDF be required for later editing - this standard should therefore only be employed when preparing final files for output. If you are making the PDF from Indesign or Quark, in the pdf output settings (or in distiller), make sure you set the output to PDF X/1a.
Some of the items we print can be invoiced VAT free. To find out more it is worth visiting the HM Revenue and Customs website by clicking on this link - VAT Information
